Lucky charms – cancelled

The congratulatory stamps issued this spring are illustrated by Klaus Haapaniemi, one of Finland’s leading artists and designers. The stamps depict mysterious lucky animals reminiscent of birds and fish.

Haapaniemi's style is influenced by Finnish traditions and Kalevala. His work is characterized by a rich Slavic culture and a more minimalistic Japanese expression.

“In a way, I have reinvented classic patterns and styles, such as Russian avant-garde, which is based on a very geometric design language,” Haapaniemi says.
