Finnish customs II – mint
This is the second part of the series featuring Finnish national customs.
The theme of the first stamp is about being overly polite at the coffee table: guests are invited to help themselves, but no one dares to go first. The second stamp depicts spontaneous gatherings in the market square, like those seen around Finland when the Finnish hockey team won its gold medal.
The artist Miika Saksi used the same collage-like mixed technique and colourful style as in the previous stamps issued in 2025.
“The stamp about being overly polite at the coffee table in particular required a lot of consideration. I experimented with hundreds of different arrangements, character positions, expressions and crops to illustrate the ideas. AI-based tools were used when drafting individual elements,” says Saksi.
