New Åland book presents golden nuggets of stamp year 2023

Ny Ålandsbok presenterar guldkorn från frimärksåret 2023

20 October sees the release of the yearbook “A story through Åland stamps 2023” filled with stamp art from the past year. The book alternates physical copies of all postage stamp issues of the year with images and unique stories from Åland in four languages. A signed graphic card from Australian artist Danelle Bergström's stamp edition is included exclusively in the book.

Issued since 1994, this year's seventeenth edition of the stamp book “A story through Åland stamps” is a treasure trove for anyone who is curious about stamp craft and life on Åland.

“With the stamp book, we want to inspire, surprise, and provide new insights into postage stamps as art and a cultural mirror from our unique Åland region. We have placed great emphasis on creating a visually inspiring book that suits both a local and international audience”, says Johanna Finne, Marketing Design Manager at Åland Post Stamps.

The cover image shows Australian artist Danelle Bergström with her stamp edition Ship building. The book includes conversations with Danelle Bergström, director of the Åland Peace Institute, Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark, and operations manager of Emmaus Åland, Robert Jansson. In addition, the book contains a tribute to Åland cottage life in the form of photographs that were submitted to the photo competition “My summer cottage”.

This year’s stamp book also includes a bonus product that is not otherwise available: a graphic card with an illustration from the Ship building stamp sheet, signed by the artist Danelle Bergström.

Detailed facts about each stamp issue are available for stamp enthusiasts. The stamps in the book have been carefully mounted in foil pockets and pasted into the book by hand.
