On 23 October, Åland Post issues this year’s Christmas seals for decorating Christmas cards and parcels. Illustrated by Åland artist Jonas Wilén, the seals complement the 2025 Christmas stamps on the theme of togetherness. Proceeds from the sale of the Christmas seals will be donated to the youth programme of the Åland Fire and Rescue Association.
“The Christmas seals have been a cherished tradition since 1993, and we are proud to support community organisations in Åland. This year, the suggestion to support the junior firefighters came from the public, and we are delighted that the Christmas seals can contribute to such an important cause. These young people learn skills that strengthen society, from firefighting and first aid to teamwork and problem-solving,” says Gunilla Häggblom, PR & Communication at Åland Post Stamps.
The youth programme of the Åland Fire and Rescue Association works to inspire young people to get involved in the fire service and to support the volunteer fire brigades’ youth activities across Åland. It organises events such as youth leader gatherings, end-of-term competitions in hose and water-jet handling, and trips to the Swedish-speaking Fire and Rescue Association’s summer camps in Finland.
“We are grateful to have been nominated for our work with the youth fire brigades. The funds raised through the Christmas seals will be a welcome contribution to our efforts to inspire and support the young people’s engagement. In addition to our regular activities, we are planning a team-building day for youth leaders and a trip to an international fire brigade camp in Masku. There, our members will develop their skills and meet fellow young firefighters from countries including Germany, the Czech Republic, and Latvia,” says Simon Söderlund, Head of the youth programme at the Åland Fire and Rescue Association.
