Åland Post is pleased to announce that an Åland stamp has been named Europe's most beautiful postage stamp for the second year running. The Åland stamp edition “Åland autonomy 100 years” issued in 2022 and illustrated by Åland artist Jonas Wilén has been voted winner among the readers of the respected German trade magazine Deutsche Briefmarken-Revue.
History and result of the European vote
Deutsche Briefmarken-Revue, one of the oldest trade magazines for philately and stamps in Germany, holds an annual poll in which stamp collectors vote for the most beautiful stamp in Europe. This year, the vote was organized for the 27th time, and stamps issued in 2022 competed. Åland Post’s entry, the miniature sheet Åland autonomy 100 years, won by a wide margin ahead of Switzerland and Spain who took second and third place, respectively.
With this year's win, Åland repeats last year's victory when the stamp edition The Tall Ships Races won the award as Europe's most beautiful stamp in 2021.

The miniature sheet Åland autonomy 100 years was issued on 9 June 2022, and described by artist Jonas Wilén as “Åland in a nutshell”. The miniature sheet is his version of life on Åland, where old and new mix well.
The anniversary edition also won Åland Post Stamps’ online vote for Åland's most beautiful 2022 stamp.
A special version of the Åland autonomy 100 years miniature sheet is also available to order. Printed in a limited edition, the special issue of the miniature sheet was produced with foiling and embossing.
